Traffic Recovering at QC Airport

Quad Cities International Airport

Passenger traffic at the Quad Cities International Airport is beginning to recover after the year-long pandemic. March was the busiest month since early last year.

Thanks to restored routes and spring break, the number of passengers flying into, and out of the airport, rose 12,000 from February. Traffic totaled about 23,000 in January and February, then jumped to 35,000 in March.

The number of passengers during the first three months of this year is down 46 per cent from the same period a year ago. That's an improvement over the 56 to 60 per cent decline in recent months.

Executive Director Ben Leischner says this is due to more people getting vaccinated and loosening government restrictions - people are beginning to think it's safe to travel again.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
