Business owners in one of the hardest hit sectors of the economy are getting a break. Because of the pandemic, a Quad Cities-based company that provides dram shop insurance for bars, restaurants, and convenience stores has suspended billing for a month.
Illinois Casualty Company insures 7,000 of these businesses in Illinois, Iowa, and nine other states. And
President and CEO, Arron Sutherland calls it an easy decision.
"For the next 30 days, rather than a bill, they'll just get a letter of support from us in the mail and let them know that basically at the end we'll take that amount that was due and we'll spread it over the remainder of their policy terms."
Current policies will also cover curbside service and delivery, plus any distilleries that switch to producing hand sanitizer.
"The other thing that we've been doing through our social media, Facebook and Twitter, is trying to share some of the information about the small business loans and the different government aid that's available. Because these restaurants are definitely going to be people that need to get some of those small business loans."
Illinois Casualty was founded in 1950 and is based in Rock Island.
