Pope Francis House to be Built for QC Family

Dougal Nelson, Habitat for Humanity

Quad Cities residents are raising money to honor Pope Francis, and help a family in need. Habitat for Humanity is asking for donations and volunteers to build the first ever Pope Francis House in Davenport.
Director of Development, Dougal Nelson, says an anonymous donor provided $60,000 to build a house honoring the Pope's commitment to social justice.
But, Habitat still needs $40,000 to complete the home for a local family. Nelson is asking Catholic churches, schools, and organizations to help.

He says Pope Francis has given Catholics and non-Catholics a common goal of wanting to help others. Nelson hopes this project will reflect that goal and lead to more homes being built in the Quad Cities.
The family and exact location of the house has yet to be decided. But, Nelson expects construction to begin this summer.
