New Public Art in Rock Island

Three new sculptures are now on display in Rock Island, as part of Quad City Arts Public Sculpture Program.

Two were created by artist Paul Bobrowitz from Colgate Minnesota - "Note" is made from steel and painted red, and it's located on 2nd Avenue in downtown Rock Island across from Quad City Arts.

"In Her Space" is made from stainless steel, and it's at the intersection of 20th Street and 19th Avenue.

A sculpture using polychrome steel, "Palimpest" by Skip Willits from Camanche, is at the corner of 1st Avenue and 18th Street.

They'll be on display for a year.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
