Genesius Guild Fundraising Campaign

A Quad Cities theatre group wants to set up an endowment fund to help insure its future. Today the Genesius Guild announced its first major endowment campaign.
Executive Director Doug Tschopp says the goal of their two year campaign called "Pushing 60" is to raise $500,000 to support their unique summer theatre program in Lincoln Park in Rock Island.
He says the fund drive has a substantial head start thanks to a major grant from Bechtel Trusts and already has reached $281,000.

The Guild was founded 58 years ago and hopes to complete this fund drive by the time it celebrates its 60th anniversary.
Tschopp hopes the fund drive will raise more than $500,000 - if the Guild can reach $750,000, it will produce more operas.

Other early gifts for the "Pushing 60" campaign have come from Michael B. Miller, the Riverboat Development Authority, the Wooten Family, and Mark Schwiebert.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
