The mayor says a meeting will be held on February 15th to finalize the dates and other details of the construction process. Crews will begin with underground installation, and the new, internet service will be available to some residents and properties early this summer.

She says it's one of the biggest infrastructure projects in the city.
Mayor Rayapati also clarified that Metronet participates in the federal, "Affordable Connectivity Program." Low income residents may qualify to get $30.00 off per month under the program. The website is HERE.
In December, the Moline City Countil approved a contract with Metronet. One of the keys to approval was the company must provide 100% coverage across the city.
Moline hired a consultant to negotiate the terms of the deal, including details of MetroNet's rollout of the new internet service.
Previously, the city administrator said it'll take about a year for Metronet to install fiberoptic lines throughout Moline.
