After a lengthy process of evaluation and discussions, the city has signed a contract with MetroNet to provide fiberoptic, broadband service with 100% coverage.
City of Moline
City Administrator Bob Vitas says the Moline City Council hired a consultant to negotiate the terms of the deal. And it'll take another couple of months of discussions to work out details of MetroNet's rollout.
Construction could start in the spring. Then Vitas says it'll take MetroNet crews about a year to install all the fiberoptic lines throughout Moline. 5% of it will be underground, and new lines added in the future will be buried.
