Rock Island Holds ARPA Funding Survey

Samantha J. Gange
/
City of Rock Island Government

The city of Rock Island is asking for help on how to spend millions of dollars. It will receive 26.5 millions dollars from the American Rescue Plan Act. The city council is holding a public survey to determine how money should be spent.

The survey asks responders to choose their 5 top priorities from a list of 12 possible options. They include: internet access, affordable housing, public safety, and community mental health.
Rock Island City Clerk and ARPA Program Manager, Samantha Gange, says the people know best.
"These funds are intended to respond to COVID-19, the public health emergency, and address the economic fallout. What better way to get public input; the public knows best about how they were impacted, and just give them the option to weigh in."

She wants people to fill out the survey who live in Rock Island, work in the city, and those with business, financial, or other interests in the city.
The survey is currently available online and on paper at the Martin Luther King Center and the Rock Island Public Library downtown, and can be submitted until July 25th.
