It's more than 50 years old (opened in 1966) and crosses the Mississippi River between Rapids City, IL and LeClaire, IA.
The departments will hold a virtual public meeting about the project on Wednesday, May 11th, 2022. (Illinois is the lead for this project.)

Becky Marruffo is the Engineer of Program Development at the Illinois DOT, District 2 office in Dixon. She says the project includes the bridge, plus six miles of highway and the I-80/I-88 interchange. But it no longer includes one section of interstate near Bettendorf's Middle Road. It will end at 35st Street SW instead (see image below).
During the virtual meeting, a range of potential options will be presented, starting with a no-build alternative. The Illinois DOT has already set aside $305 million for the project. And Marruffo says the two state will split the cost, 50/50.
Wednesday's online, I-80 bridge meeting will run from 4:00 until 5:30 P.M. A link to register is on the project website, I-80 Mississippi Bridge.
The team is asking for public comments through May 25th.
