After years of planning and work, a major renovation of the Family Museum in Bettendorf is ready to open. A v-i-p reception will be held tonight for Fox Hollow, and it'll open to the public tomorrow.
Kim Kidwell, manager of learning experiences and environments, says Fox Hollow is a "kid-sized" town, with all the features of a normal town such as a post office, restaurant, farm, and grocery store.
Kidwell says this is the first major update of the Family Museum since the current building opened in 1997. They decided to re-do it for kids 8 and under, centered around a town, farm, and river.
A final stage of the project will begin in April - converting the "welcome theater" into more exhibit space. The renovation cost 1.3 million dollars.
