The $1.4 million dollar project, replacing traffic signals at the intersection, will kick off a larger project, eventually reducing four lanes of highway down to two lanes each way.
Congressman Eric Sorensen says it will make the Centennial Expressway safer for bikers and pedestrians.

"We will soon have, as you see, a new roundabout, pedestrian and bike access, and improved roadway lighting."
On Friday, Sorensen presented a ceremonial check to Mayor Mike Thoms. The congressman also announced funding for the city of Moline to replace lead service lines on 15th Street.
Officials say construction at the 35th Street West and Centennial Expressway intersection could begin as early as next year.
