Missing East Moline man found dead in Mississippi River

East Moline Police Department

A car, belonging to a man reported missing two months ago in East Moline, has been found by divers in the Mississippi River.

Officials say the body of the missing man was inside.

On March 30th, 92-year old William Weber was reported missing from his apartment at the Fox Pointe Apartment complex on 7th Street in East Moline. He was last seen there by family the night before. His walker and 2012 Silver Chevy Malibu was also missing.

In a release, the East Moline Police Department said it was contacted late Tuesday morning by divers searching for Weber. They had found Weber's car in the Mississippi River near the boat ramp of Empire Park.

Once it was removed from the water, investigators confirmed the car belonged to Weber. A dead body, believed to be the missing man, was found inside the car.

Police say an autopsy is scheduled for this week.
