Man dead after "officer-involved shooting" in East Moline

An 80-year old man is dead after an "officer-involved shooting" in East Moline last week.

On Friday afternoon, the East Moline Police Department responded to a call about a person with a gun at the Hometown Harbor Apartment Complex on 49th Avenue.

In a release, police said that an employee of the complex made the call after an 80-year old resident fired a gun outside.

Two East Moline officers, Lieutenant Dustin Edkin and Officer Garrett Kistner, confronted the man. Officials say one or both officers shot the resident, who died at a hospital in Peoria Monday night.

The Rock Island County Integrity Task Force is still investigating.
