John Deere announces Moline layoffs

John Deere will lay off over 30 workers at its Cylinder Works facility in Moline at the end of the month.

A John Deere spokesperson says the 34 employees were told about the layoffs last week by factory leadership.

In a statement, the spokesperson said "Each John Deere factory balances the size of its production workforce with the needs of the individual factory to optimize the workforce at each facility."

John Deere Cylinder Works currently has about 280 total employees.

The layoffs go into effect May 31.
