Another lawsuit for Davenport

wvik_news

The city of Davenport is facing another lawsuit.

This time, two former city employees are suing the city for damages after their settlement demand letters were released for an open records request.

In the filing, Tiffany Thorndike and Samantha Torres allege that the city wrongfully released confidential information, including reports of harassment and sensitive health information.

Former assistant city attorney Brian Heyer and Deputy City Clerk Brian Krup are also named in the suit.

Another settlement agreement between the city and former city administrator Corri Spiegel is the focus of two other court cases. In one, the city is asking a judge if it needs to release Spiegel's demand letter, which resulted in a $1.6 million payout, for an open records request.

In another, Davenport is taking the state auditor's office to court over a subpoena for recordings of closed city council meetings. The auditor's office is investigating the settlements paid to Spiegel, Thorndike and Torres.
