The city of Rock Island has chosen its deputy chief of police to serve as interim police chief.

Tim McCloud has worked for the Rock Island Police Department for 30 years.

He was appointed as the deputy chief of police in 2021, after serving as lieutenant for over ten years. McCloud previously held a variety of roles within the department, including several leadership positions, sergeant and detective.

Former police chief Richard Landi retired last week.

Landi was appointed chief of police two years ago, after serving as interim chief for five months. He had also served as deputy chief of police.
