The jobless rate was 4.6%, from 4.3% in March 2023. Still, total non-farm employment in the area dropped 2,500 over the year, meaning 2,500 jobs were lost.
There were roughly 2,200 job losses in professional business services and 600 in manufacturing. Government and wholesale trade were the sectors with the most growth.
The unemployment rate reflects the amount of people out of work, who are looking for a job.
