Former Dubuque pastor arrested, accused of abuse 40-years ago

A former Dubuque pastor accused of sexually abusing children has been arrested in Florida.

The Dubuque Police Department says it was contacted by the Archdiocese of Dubuque last year about reports of abuse that happened in the 1980s.

Four separate people accused Leo Riley, an associate pastor at the time at Resurrection Parish in Dubuque, of sexual abuse. The victims were all grade school-aged altar boys at the parish.

This week, Dubuque police charged Riley with five counts of sexual abuse. Riley, now 68-years old and living in Florida, is in custody waiting to be extradited back to Dubuque.
