Moline police officially launch online reporting system

City of Moline

Moline residents can now report minor crimes to the police online.

The Moline Police Department officially launched the service this week. It's called the Desk Officer Reporting System.

People can report crimes like minor theft, home repair fraud or bad checks online, using the system. They'll fill out a form, get a case number and if the report needs more investigation, they'll be contacted by police.

Officials say it will make reporting minor crimes more efficient for citizens and police.

The city started building the system last summer and soft-launched it two months ago. In the next few months, it'll expand to more cities in Rock Island County.

The system is available on Moline's website. Police say if a crime is in progress or if there is an immediate threat, call 911.
