The jobless rate was 4.8%, from 4.7% in February 2023. Still, total non-farm employment in the area dropped 1,600 over the year, meaning 1,600 jobs were lost.
There were roughly 2,000 job losses in professional business services and 600 in manufacturing. Construction and wholesale trade were the sectors with the most growth.
The unemployment rate reflects the amount of people out of work, who are looking for a job.
