A partial solar eclipse emerges from behind the United States Capitol on June 10, 2021.

The Rock Island Public Library will give out eclipse glasses before the solar eclipse in April.

The safety glasses are now available at any of the library's three locations, while supplies last. The library will also give them out on April 8, the day of the eclipse.

The Quad Cities area isn't in the path of totality, but residents will be able to see the partial eclipse. It will start around 1 pm, and is expected to last for about two and a half hours.
