Dubuque City Councilwoman appointed to FCC advisory committee

City of Dubuque

A Dubuque City Councilwoman has been chosen to sit on a federal advisory committee.

The Federal Communications Commission, or the FCC, chose Susan Farber to serve on its Intergovernmental Advisory Committee. Farber has been on the Dubuque City Council for three years, representing the city's first ward.

The committee will make recommendations to the FCC about telecommunications issues, like broadband access, that affect local, state and tribal governments.

Farber will be one of 30 members, from 20 states. She is the only committee member from Iowa. Each member will serve a two-year term.

The committee will hold its first meeting next month.

Rachel graduated from Michigan State University's J-School and has a background in broadcast and environmental journalism. Before WVIK, she worked for WKAR Public Media, Great Lakes Now, and more. In her free time, she likes to cook, hike, and hang out with her cat.
