The city of Dubuque will help residents pay their rental security deposits on a first come, first serve basis.

The Security Deposit Assistance Program was announced last week and is available for households that make under 50% of the median income for the area.

The city will pay up to two months of rent, one time, directly to the property owner as long as the rental unit is within city limits. Priority will be given to people experiencing homelessness.

The city received a $50,000 grant from the Iowa Finance Authority to support the program. Applications can be found on the City of Dubuque's website or in person at the Historic Federal Building.
