Last month, Peter Tokar took over as president and CEO of the chamber.

Tokar has over 17 years of experience in economic development. Most recently, he was president and CEO of an economic development corporation in Texas.

He calls the Quad Cities "the best kept secret in the Midwest" and is eager to get the word out about the region.

"There's a lot of culture here, there's a lot of arts here, there's alot of entertainment here, there's a lot of business and industry here," Tokar said. "How come— literally before I interviewed for the position I had never heard of the Quad Cities."

He hopes to bring more economic growth to the Quad Cities.

"People don't know what we have to offer, and what we have to offer is amazing," Tokar said. "We have the recipe for success, we've just never put it together in a way that has gone beyond our own boundaries. So, that's really what my goals are is to look at expanding our economic development side of the chamber and getting the word out about the amazing quality of life and the business opportunities that are within this region."

Tokar also recently wrote a children's book titled "Grumpalumpagus", inspired by his son.
