Before moving to Naperville from Moline, Harris and his wife, Diane, established a fund at the Quad Cities Community Foundation by merging their two, private foundations. It's called the Harris Family Foundation.
Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe says a memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 13th at noon. Then a celebration of life will follow from 1 to 4 pm at CityView Celebrations on the lower level. The address is 701 12th Street, Moline, IL.
The family requests people not send flowers, but to donate to charity to honor Harris's passion for giving and serving nonprofits throughout his life.
The obituary from Trimble says Harris has a photography website at World-Scenes.com. He enjoyed traveling and will be remembered for his "puns and inappropriate jokes" at board meetings followed by "requisite groans from those in attendance."
Harris was the president of Isabel Bloom, and before that, Star Forms. He served on many boards over the years including:
- The Figge Art Museum,
- Quad City Civic Center Authority,
- Quad City Bank and Trust,
- Community Foundation of the Great River Bend,
- Quad City Contributors Council,
- Committee for Better City Government, and others.
Hunt and Diane Harris are also long-time donors to WVIK.
