With the help of more than 300 local volunteers, the pay-what-you-can restaurant provided more than 7,000 meals last year. The Director of NEST Cafe is Laura Mahn.
"The majority of the people that were trying to make a difference for are people whose kids go to school with our kids or our grandkids. These are people who work alongside us, and and they're struggling. And we might not realize the struggles they're having. And we just want the food that they're eating to serve them, so that they are able to function the way people who have the ability to pay for really good food all the time are able to function."

She also says NEST Cafe brings the community together. "The staff, the customers, we're all kind of one thing. There's not much of a delineation between the staff and the volunteers and the customers."
Mahn says the suggested donation for a full plate is usually $10.00. But customers can donate more to help someone else eat at NEST.
Next year, she hopes to increase the number of meals by at least 30%.
