Winter Weather Update for QCs & Dubuque

National Weather Service Quad Cities

Sleet and freezing rain in the Quad Cities early this morning lowered the amount of snowfall during this round of winter weather.

Meteorologist Dave Cousins works at the Davenport office of the National Weather Service. He says by noon, less than one inch of snow had fallen in Scott and Rock Island counties. But one to two more inches of snow are on the way and are likely to arrive from 4:00 to 6:00 PM.

The winter storm warning will expire at 9 PM. The overnight low in the Quad Cities will be around 12 with wind chills near zero. Cousins says Friday will be quiet but colder with a high around 26.

Dubuque also got sleet and freezing rain which also lowered its snow totals. By noon today, he says 3.2 inches of snow had fallen in Dubuque, with more expected this afternoon and during rush hour.

Be careful overnight and tomorrow morning because sidewalks and streets that have not been treated will become icy and very slick.
