Republicans Win Scott County

Great candidates and great support. That's how Scott County Republican Chair Juanita McNulty explains her party's many victories in Tuesday's election. Republicans won nearly all the races.

"People believe in these candidates. They know they're going to take our county, state, and nation in the right direction. They just have a lot of support because people know that our country needs to be going in a different direction and these are the people that will help make that change."

She says next, probably after the holidays, we'll see lots of action as Republicans begin working for the 2024 election.

On the losing side Tuesday in Scott County was Democratic County Chair Matt Trimble. He says the results "reflect the power of money over real needs."

"The ability to launch baseless ads, that have scare tactics and racist stuff that just gets people worked up and will show up to vote for people that have no interest in their well-being."

And he promises Democrats will keep fighting, both here in Scott County and in Des Moines.
