"This is the most pro-labor state in the country, and it will remain that way." That was the message Monday from Governor J.B. Pritzker to Rock Island County Democrats during their annual Labor Day Salute to Labor in East Moline.

The governor says since he first took office, he's tried to protect workers - their right to safe workplaces, the right to organize, and for good pay.

And he wants to make sure that's all protected when the workers rights amendment is on the ballot in November.

"And folks in about 64 days, and five hours and 22 minutes, not that I'm counting, but in about 64 days we're going to pass the workers rights amendment and we're going to ban three words from the dictionaries of the state of Illinois, and that's "right to work."

And he urged his fellow Democrats to reject what he called the "anti-worker agenda" of his Republican opponent, State Senator Darren Bailey, once and for all.

Pritzker was joined by several state and local candidates, including State Treasurer Mike Frerichs, and Secretary of State candidate Alexi Giannoulias, plus candidate for Congress Eric Sorensen.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978.
