A nonprofit that serves people with cancer and their families is asking for donations to complete expansion plans. Two and-a-half years ago, Gilda's Club moved out of a large home on River Drive in Davenport. Since then, it's been serving people at Unity Point Health Trinity's Moline location on 7th Street, and at a small satellite office in Davenport.

It took longer to raise money for the expansion because of the pandemic. But recently, construction began on a new clubhouse at Genesis West hospital in Davenport.
Executive Director, Joy McMeekan, says Gilda's Club has raised about 85% of its fundraising goal. So she's asking the public to help raise the rest, $300,000.
The Genesis West location will feature a special place for children called, Noogieland, in honor of Gilda Radner.
Two new areas at the Davenport clubhouse include a yoga and wellness studio, and a lounge for teenagers and young adults.
To donate, visit GildasClubQC.org/hope/, or send the nonprofit a check in the mail. (The mailing address is Gilda’s Club Quad Cities, 1351 West Central Park Avenue, Suite #200, Davenport, IA 52804.)
McMeekan says the expansion would not be possible without the support of both Genesis and Unity Point Health Trinity. The new clubhouse at Genesis in Davenport should open in about four months.
