Seven men are in jail after rioting in Davenport Sunday and early Monday.

Michelle O'Neill reports Scott County Attorney Mike Walton also released the name of one of the two people who were shot and killed.

Since the beginning of the year, the number of cars stolen in Davenport has dropped 35% compared to 2018. But this month, the police department reports 13 vehicles have been stolen, including a car-jacking. 

"If you see something, say something." That's the slogan Davenport police officers will be repeating to students and teachers when the new school year begins next week. 


Drivers in Davenport will have to be a whole lot more careful starting next week. As the new school year begins, police will resume enforcing lower speed limits in school zones.


The US Department of Justice will try to help Davenport reduce violent crime. Wednesday the police department announced it's been accepted into a three year federal program called the Public Safety Partnership that'll focus on crimes involving guns.

This month, you may see blue, silver, shiny pinwheel gardens all over the Quad Cities to remind people about child abuse. April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month, and the Child Abuse Council is partnering with 11 companies to help raise awareness.

Gun Found At Local Elementary School

A gun was found on the grounds of a local elementary school. This morning, the Davenport School District reported that a driver of a CitiBus called the police about a gun laying on the grass boulevard at Adams Elementary School. 

Police in Davenport may get some new help to investigate crime involving fire-arms. The city council is considering spending 400,000 dollars to join the National Integrated Ballistic Information Network (NIBIN). 

Deputy Involved Shooting

A Davenport man is hospitalized in critical condition after being shot by a Scott County Sheriff's deputy early Tuesday morning. The shooting followed a traffic stop about 1 am in Davenport, on North Brady Street near Interstate 80.

Davenport police are holding out hope a reward will help them solve a three month old homicide. On Monday Crime Stoppers annnounced the extension for another 90 days of the 10,000 dollar cash reward for information leading to the arrest of the person reponsible for Jason Roberts' death.
