Augustana Hires First Water Polo Coach

Augustana College

More than a year before competition begins, Augustana College has hired a coach for its water polo teams. Ryan Pryor comes to the Quad Cities from Virginia Military Institute where he was the women's head coach for six years.

He'll coach both men's and women's teams at Augustana, with home matches in the new Lindberg Center for Health and Human Performance that's now under construction.

Pryor actually started coaching an undergraduate, and in law school, at the University of Michigan, coaching the women's club team. Then he served as an assistant for men's and women's teams at Connecticut College for three years.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
