The Quad Cities River Bandits formally introduced their new leader on Wednesday at Modern Woodmen Park. Joe Kubly is taking over the reins as general manager of the team.

He has worked for a handful of sports teams, primarily in Minor League Baseball, including a stint with the River Bandits from 2014 to 2015. His most recent job was as president of the Grand Junction Rockies, where he won the Pioneer League's Executive of the Year in 2018.

Kubly says there are a number of things that the Bandits weren't able to accomplish when he worked with the team previously that he wants to do as general manager.

"Things like concerts: it would be great to have a concert here at the park. Or, maybe even some type of other sporting event on the field, y'know whether it may be soccer or football, maybe something like boxing. The possibilities are really endless here at Modern Woodmen Park."

The team also introduced the new Executive Director of Special Events Taylor Satterly and Group Sales Account Executive Michael Plummer. Team Owner Dave Heller is optimistic that this new group will bring the team and the ballpark to the next level.

"Between Joe heading up the baseball team and Taylor heading up special events at the ballpark, I know first, that this ballpark is in fantastic hands, and second, that it's going to be busy all year round."

Kubly is a native of Freeport, Illinois, and served as the Director of Sales and Ticketing when he worked for the team previously.
