New Class for Tribe of Vikings HOF

Sketches of Ted McMillan and Meghan Voiland McMillan, husband and wife, who both won individual national championships in track & field.

Augustana College will honor some of its best student-athletes this weekend. Seven names will be added to the Tribe of Vikings Hall of Fame on Saturday.

Dave Wrath, Assistant Director of Athletics at Augustana, says there were around 200 nominees for the honor this year, making these inductees an elite group.

"Included in it is just some incredible achievers, and there's also a husband and wife team in Meghan Voiland McMillan and Ted McMillan, who were track athletes. Both of them were individual national champions."

Tom Anthony and Rick Harrigan both won player of the year in the conference for their sports, football and basketball. Marc Blakeley, a baseball player, was an All-American when he attended Augustana, while Samantha Knox, who played both softball and volleyball, was an Academic All-American.

The only coach being inducted this year is Kevin Puebla, who coached the wrestling team from 1987 to 2000 and won 12 conference championships.

This year's Tribe of Vikings honorees will be presented at halftime of Augustana's home football game against Milikin on Saturday afternoon, and will be formally inducted that evening.
