The Missouri Valley Conference will host its women's championship in the Quad Cities for another two years. This afternoon at the TaxSlayer Center, the conference and its local partners announced the MVC President's Council has approved a two-year contract extension through 2021.

In 2016, "The Valley" moved its Division I conference tournament to the Quad Cities. And Senior Associate Commissioner, Patty Viverito, says the TaxSlayer Center is home now, and a great site for the championship, especially because it's a neutral site.

Viverito says each year, the arena, fans, and services have gotten better and better. And next year, she hopes the Missouri Valley Conference will do more outreach in the Quad Cities.

Last March, attendance for the MVC women's basketball tournament totaled 8,400, the second highest since 2006. That's when the league began hosting the championships at neutral sites.

The 2019 Hoops in the Heartland tournament will be held March 14th through 17th.

The ten teams include Bradley, Drake, Illinois State, Northern Iowa, and Southern Illinois, plus Evansville, Indiana State, Loyola, Missouri State, and Valparaiso.
