Luck Invited to JD Classic

PGA Tour of Australia

The John Deere Classic's tradition of inviting promising young players will continue this year. The tournament has awarded a sponsor exemption to Curtis Luck of Australia who recently turned professional after being rated the world's number one amateur golfer.

Last weekend, Luck tied for 5th at the Quicken Loans Championship, his best finish in eight PGA tournaments so far this year.

Three others who placed in the top ten at the Quicken Loans event will also play in the John Deere Classic next week in Silvis - the champion Kyle Stanley, the runner-up Charles Howell III, and Sung Kang who tied for 5th.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
