Viverito unveils the new logo at the iWireless Center.

There's still six months until a major women's basketball tournament comes to Moline-- but, organizers are already making a home in the Quad Cities. Today, the Missouri Valley Conference unveiled its new logo and slogan, "Hoops in the Heartland."

MVC spokeswoman, Patty Viverito, says the slogan "captures the spirit" of the tournament's new home.
The MVC also announced the four college teams scheduled to play in a double-header at the iWireless Center before the tournament begins. In December, Northern Iowa will take on Akron, and Illinois State will play Northern Illinois, in the Mid-American Conference, or MAC, Challenge.

Jean Berger, from Northern Iowa, says playing in the MAC Challenge is a big advantage.

She says the MAC Challenge will help with ticket sales later.

Tickets go on sale in October for the MAC Challenge.

Viverito says the MVC is excited to be in the Quad Cities because it's a neutral site for the tournament, and has a variety of hotel and entertainment options for teams and fans.

President of the Quad Cities Convention and Visitors Bureau, Joe Taylor, says his staff plans to travel to several colleges in the Missouri Valley Conference this winter, to prepare for the tournament in March.
