Students interested in manufacturing and trades can learn more about opportunities in those fields tomorrow.

The third annual Galesburg Area Vocational Center Manufacturing and Trades showcase will be the biggest one yet, according to center director Adam Seaney.

"You compare last year to this year, last year we had 18 business partners and just under 1,100 students through. Tomorrow we're anticipating 27 business partners with almost 1,800 students."

This year, the showcase will also include more hands-on activities than in previous years.

"Carl Sandburg College and Martin Tractor will be here with their welding simulators. Delabar and Carl Sandburg and Jupiter Machine Tool will be here with some of their AR/VR headsets to give students virtual opportunities to do some things in those fields."

The showcase is open to 7th-12th grade students in the Galesburg area. It will take place in the Galesburg Area Vocational Center tomorrow from 8:30a.m-2p.m. Other businesses and organizations in attendence include Midstate Manufacturing, John Deere Harvester Works and Illinois Air National Guard.
