Diversity Remains Important Goal for Augustana College

Even though diversity is an important goal, Thursday's ruling on affirmative action by the US Supreme Court will not affect Augustana College. That was the message Friday to faculty and staff from President Andrea Talentino.

She says there'll be no change in services, benefits, or opportunities for students, including no impact on financial aid. And that admission to the college is not influenced by the race or ethnicity of students.

Doctor Talentino says diversity will continue to be an important goal for Augustana, because it's one of the key ways the college prepares students to go out in the world.

"We will ensure that our practices going forward are consistent with the Court decision while also staying true to our goals - building a diverse and vibrant community and supporting students with financial need."
