Carl Sandburg College Building New Science and Technology Center

Carl Sandburg College

Construction has started on the new Science and Technology Center at Carl Sandburg College in Galesburg. The multimillion-dollar building will be the largest construction project since the college opened in 1969.

College President Seamus Reilly says the new Science and Technology Center will support the school's mission.

"One of the things Carl Sandburg is noted for is being an economic driver in terms of supporting our workforce. This building will primarily support our health profession programs, making sure our students are being trained in the most up to date facilities."

The college's board of trustees issued bonds to pay for the project.

Reilly says the building will attract new students.

"It will be a beautiful building. It will be essentially a major front door for the college to welcome students in and we are hoping it will attract new students to the college when they get a chance to visit it."

The New Science and Technology Center will house the health programs, laboratories, and wellness center.

Completion is expected in the fall of next year.
