In-Person Commencement Returns for EICC

EICC

This weekend, for the first time in two years, the Eastern Iowa Community Colleges will hold in-person graduations. And some graduates from 2020 and 2021 will participate.

More than 1,000 students will be honored at three ceremonies.

- the 75th commencement for Clinton Community College will be held Friday night at 6 o'clock at Clinton High School,

- the 91st commencement for Muscatine Community College begins at 10 am Saturday at Calvary Church in Muscatine,

- and Saturday afternoon at 1, Scott Community College will hold its 55th commencement ceremony at the TaxSlayer Center in Moline.

The ceremonies can also be viewed online. You can watch Scott Community College’s ceremony on YouTube, while Clinton and Muscatine community colleges will livestream their ceremonies on their Facebook pages.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois. While a graduate student in the Public Affairs Reporting Program at the University of Illinois at Springfield (then known as Sangamon State University), he got his first taste of public radio, covering Illinois state government for WUIS. Here in the Quad Cities, Herb worked for WHBF Radio before coming to WVIK in 1987. Herb also produces the weekly public affairs feature Midwest Week – covering the news behind the news by interviewing reporters about the stories they cover.
