Rock River Rising

Heavy rain upstream is pushing up the level of the Rock River. Monday it's over flood stage at both Joslin and Moline, and is forecast to go up some more at both locations.

The National Weather Service says at Joslin, the river went over flood stage on Saturday and has since gone up three more feet. It should rise another half-foot and crest on Tuesday then fall sharply through the rest of the week.

At Moline Monday, the Rock is half a foot over flood stage and expected to go up one more foot and crest on Wednesday morning. It should drop back below flood stage by sometime on Thursday.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
