Production at two John Deere plants will stop for a couple of weeks. The company says it will temporarily suspend production at the Dubuque and Davenport factories starting May 11th, and probably re-start on May 26th.
Both make construction and forestry equipment, a sector Deere predicted would drop 10 to 15 per cent this year, even before the pandemic resulted in it scrapping its previous sales and financial forecasts.
In addition, the company will indefinitely layoff 159 Dubuque workers beginning June 1st. Earlier this year, it laid off 105 at the plant.
