A candidate for Congress in eastern Iowa is hoping to hold eight debates with the incumbent. On Friday, Republican Christopher Peters issued the challenge to Democratic incumbent Congressman Dave Loebsack.
As Peters says, "By putting ourselves in front of voters to discuss the issues, we can ensure the integrity of our electoral process."
He says the eight debates could be held during congressional district work periods, when Loebsack will be back in the Second District anyway, including the entire month of October.
Peters is a surgeon from Coralville, who also ran in 2016. Loebsack, from Iowa City, is now serving his sixth term in Congress.
