A new judge and state's attorney were sworn in Wednesday morning at the Rock Island County Justice Center.
After serving as state's attorney for six years, John McGehee is now a Resident Circuit Judge for Rock Island County. He was apppointed by the Illinois Supreme Court from a list of six applicants.
Patricia Castro is now the Acting State's Attorney for Rock Island County. She's worked in the office for nearly 22 years, most recently as chief of the Civil Division. And she's argued cases before the Third District Appellate Court and Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals.
Castro is a graduate of Moline High School, Augustana College, and the law school at Drake University.
Wednesday afternoon, County Board Chairman Richard Brunk announced Castro will serve until the board appoints someone to be interim State's Attorney - that person will serve McGeHee's unexpired term until the fall of next year (2020).
