Lescinski Announces Retirement in 2021

Saint Ambrose University

The search will soon begin for a new president of Saint Ambrose University in Davenport. Tuesday Sister Joan Lescinski announced she will retire next year after leading the university since 2007.

Also Tuesday Saint Ambrose announced the hiring of an executive search firm and the formation of a search committee. The committee will be led by two members of the board of trustees, and include six more members of the board plus seven representatives from faculty, staff, students, and alumni.

When she retires next year, Sister Joan will have served as president of Saint Ambrose for 14 years, and spent nearly 50 years in Catholic higher education.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
