"People, partnership, and personality." Those are the three things the new head of the Quad Cities Convention and Visitors Bureau says will drive the organization. This morning, the bureau's board of directors introduced Dave Herrell, from Jacksonville, Florida, as the new President and CEO of the organization.
Herrell says he's a native of St. Louis and is excited to reconnect with the Midwest. He's also eager to work with the convention and visitors bureau staff, saying their passion for the Quad Cities area is part of what attracted him to the position.
Herrell previously worked for the City of Jacksonville's Office of Sports and Entertainment, Arizona Sports Foundation, Nashville Sports Council, and other organizations. While he has lots of experience in the tourism industry, his favorite accomplishment is "stealing" the Houston Oilers from Texas, getting the NFL team to move to Tennessee, and being involved in building a new NFL stadium.
Herrell will start his new job as President and CEO of the Quad Cities Convention and Visitors Bureau on October 8th. Lynn Hunt has been serving as interim since former President and CEO Joe Taylor left in June to accept a job in Evansville, Indiana.
