The Galva Music Series Needs a Stage

Nov 25, 2019

Preparing for what it hopes will be a third summer of music concerts in Galva, the Levitt AMP Music Series is raising money to build a stage in Wiley Park.

Series President John Taylor says they used an old, temporary stage during the first two summers, but knew if they wanted to continue, they'd need a permanent stage.

"Because if we can have a permanent roof, we can do shows rain or shine, which I think is an important piece of all this because scrambling to change venues at the last minute is a real challenge and it kind of takes away from the focus of what we're doing."

The city of Galva agreed to spend 25,000 dollars for a concrete base, and now Taylor has started raising money for a roof - its estimated cost is 50,000 dollars.

He hopes the base and roof can be ready for next summer when more concerts will be held in Wiley Park.
