Fairview's Post Office Renamed After Fallen Soldier

The name of a small town Illinois post office will be changed to honor a fallen soldier. On Friday in Fairview, in Fulton County, west of Peoria, a ceremony will be held to officially name the building, the "Sergeant Douglas J. Riney Post Office."

Born and raised in Fairview, Riney served in the Army, and was a recipient of the Bronze Star, Army Commendation Medal, and the Purple Heart. He died in 2016 while serving in Afghanistan.

After his death, Congresswoman Cheri Bustos sponsored a bill to rename the Fairview Post Office in his honor.

The renaming ceremony will be held Friday morning at 10:30. Bustos will be joined by Sgt. Riney's family and local officials.
