Starting today, the Eastern Iowa Community Colleges will move online for the remainder of the semester, with the exception of lab and career training classes.
Spokesman Alan Campbell says all three campuses will continue to offer those courses in-person with the same social distancing and mask requirements they've been enforcing all semester. And he expects a semi-return to normal next semester.
"We have the traditional in-the-classroom classes that are face-to-face. We also have those live online that involve Zoom where a teacher has a regular scheduled class time, and it's face-to-face, but it's all over the Internet. And then the traditional online classes, so it's about a third, a third, a third, and that's what we expect that we will be going back to come mid-January when classes start."
All college locations will remain open with full services available. Faculty will alternate between working from home and in-person.
The Eastern Iowa Community Colleges have reported a total of 102 COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began.
